MIRI, Jan 7: A government pensioner was killed, while two youths were injured when their motorcycles collided near Tudan junction this afternoon (Jan 7).
One of the injured youths is a secondary school student in Permyjaya here.
Both the youths (the rider and his pillion rider) were rushed to Miri Hospital.
According to Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the deceased, 73, died at Miri Hospital due to injuries he sustained following the 12.20pm incident.
Prior to the crash, the pensioner was coming out from the Tudan junction going against the flow of traffic, before he was hit by the motorcycle ridden by the youths coming from Tudan.
“Vehicles are not allowed to exit from (that road at) the Tudan junction, as it meant for those (vehicles) to enter only,” disclosed Alexson.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
