Twin Otter plane skids off runway upon landing at Miri Airport

MIRI, Jan 7: It was a heart-stopping moment for all on board as a Twin Otter plane skidded off the runway after landing at Miri Airport today.

No injuries was reported. There were 12 passengers on board the MASwings flight during the incident.

Minister of Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin when contacted earlier this evening, confirmed the incident.

“Yes, true, a Twin Otter flight from Lawas to Miri skidded at Miri Airport runway while landing at about 4pm,” Lee disclosed.

He added it was believed that the incident was caused by crosswinds.

“No injury to passengers and pilots, the plane was pulled out from the ground at about 8pm just now,” he revealed.

Lee added that his ministry will write to the Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) to request for a report on the cause of the incident. — DayakDaily
