KUCHING, July 22: More than 30 vehicles and 60 volunteers, including nine camper vehicles with Sarawak crown flags, participated in a 722 convoy parade to commemorate Sarawak Independence Day.

In a statement today, event organiser Sarawak Association for People’s Aspiration (SAPA) Miri spokesperson Yeo Yaw Lee, sought to normalise the “722 Independence Day” as an ordinary annual event.

He opined that Sarawakians should celebrate 722 just like celebrating their parents’ birthdays.

He added the purpose of flying the Sarawak Crown flag and the parade is to bring awareness to Sarawakians.

“In commemoration of the 722 Sarawak Independence Day, this activity also serves as a reminder to the government of Sarawak to exercise (execute) the true meaning of Independence specified in Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” he said.

Meanwhile, during the parade, the convoy travelled to Senadin in northern Miri and Lambir in the south. The team continue their journey to the designated end point at Marina Park, completing the 722 convoy tour of 2024.
