KUCHING, June 7: More than 1,000 Kapit residents of various races and religions gathered last night at the Kapit Town Square to attend the ‘Citra Muzikal’ concert held in conjunction with the State-level Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s birthday celebration.
According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the concert concluded the State-level official birthday celebration for His Majesty in Kapit.
Among singers who performed were Chien, Olivia C, Ramles Walter, Ricky Andrewson, and Bob Yusuf, accompanied by the orchestra, Prodigy.
Apart from that, the concert also featured ‘Dramatari’ which depicted the life of the Iban community in the past.
Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department Datuk John Sikie Tayai, who is also the minister-in-charge of the birthday celebration, and his wife, Datin Melia Gelen attended the concert as well.
Following the performance, Sikie, various dignitaries, and locals proceeded to the Kapit Waterfront to watch a fireworks display.
Among those present were Sarawak Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Native Law and Customs) Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Hulu Rajang Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Baleh assemblyman Nicholas Kudi Jantai, Kapit Resident Nyurak Keti, and Temenggong Datuk Wilfred Billy Panyau. — DayakDaily
