More locations undergo sanitisation in Kuching, Kota Samarahan, Semariang and Miri

KUCHING, April 8: Sanitising works to curb the spread of Covid-19 continued today, with personnel from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Ministry of Health (MOH) and respective local councils.

Bomba in a statement disclosed the works were carried out this afternoon at a house in Kota Samarahan which was a Covid-19 epicentre.

According to Bomba Sarawak assistant director (operations) Tiong Ling Hii, in Kuching, they carried out works to clean and disinfect Surau Darul Amin in Semariang at 9.40am and Bintawa Hawker Centre at 9am, followed by Bintawa Wet Market at 2pm.

They also covered 10 blocks of buildings including a wet market at 3rd Mile Bazaar at 3pm.

Over in Miri, similar operations were carried out at Masjid Ar Rayyan in Taman Permyjaya at 9.30am, Mater Dei Church in Lutong Baru at 11am and BEM Church in Eastwood Valley at 3pm.

Tiong added that these operations will continue throughout Sarawak in the following days during the Movement Control Period (MCO).

Since March 30, sanitisation operations were carried out in Kuching (35 operations), Miri (19) Sarikei (11) Kota Samarahan (8), Limbang (5), Sibu (3), Betong (3) and one each at Bintulu and Sri Aman.

The sanitisation works covered premises such as public markets (25), religious places (19), government buildings (15), public gathering areas (11), housing (8), transportation (5), supermarkets (2) and one hotel. — DayakDaily
