MMEA battles new peat fire near SK Kuala Baram

MIRI, March 29: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has detected a new peat fire this morning near SK Kuala Baram, affecting approximately 60 acres of land.

MMEA Miri Zone director Captain Mohd Shafie Paing stated in a press release today that the fire was discovered during a water bombing operation in Sg Adong early this morning.

Upon discovering the new peat fire, MMEA swiftly deployed its CL-415 Bombardier to contain the situation.

“Our CL-415 Bombardier continued operation at the new found peat fire site this morning to extinguish the flames and prevent any further damage,” Captain Mohd Shafie Paing said.

Meanwhile, on the third day of the MMEA’s operation at Sg Adong peat fire, a significant milestone was achieved with the successful drop of 42,000 litres of water on the raging peat fire.
