BINTULU, Jan 29: Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG), a subsidiary of Petronas, today launched its ‘Program Sentuhan Kasih Tahun Baru Cina 2019’ at Kelab Kidurong Bintulu.

In a collaboration with the Welfare Department, the company distributed essential food items such as rice, sugar and eggs to 31 less privileged families and to the Methodist Children’s Home in Bintulu.

At the children’s welfare home, about 50 MLNG staff conducted fun learning activities with the children.

MLNG also gave financial support to Universiti Teknologi Mara’s (UiTM Mukah) ‘Food for Sadaqah programme’ — an initiative to provide food and drinks to cash-strapped students from less privileged families.

MLNG chief executive officer Pau Kiew Huai said: “While pursuing the growth of our organisation, we remain committed to the wellbeing of the community wherever we operate. Therefore, we hope our contribution will bring joy in ushering in the Chinese New Year 2019 celebration.”

On Jan 12, MLNG and its partner Rahabco Engineering & Construction Sdn Bhd installed a new water tank and mended the house of an elderly Chinese man who lives alone in a dilapidated makeshift house at Jalan Sultan Iskandar here.

All the activities are part of Petronas’ ‘Program Sentuhan Kasih’, a signature corporate social responsibility programme launched in 2005 to reach out to communities in need during festive seasons.
