Missing handicapped man found safe

LAWAS, Aug 3: A handicapped man, who was reported missing in the jungle yesterday, has been found safe and unharmed by rescuers this morning.

Lawas Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Zaki Hussin said Wellin Paulus, 47, was found in the jungle about 200 metres away from his house at Kampung Tang Sango B by Search and Rescue team (SAR) at 11.45am.

Wellin’s father, who is also the village chief, Paulus Parir said his missing son was last seen by family members at 8pm two days ago.

Even with the help of villagers, they were unable to locate him, prompting Paulus to lodge a police report yesterday evening.

A team of firefighters from Lawas were dispatched to the location where Wellin was last seen. The village is located about 43km away from Lawas town.

The SAR operation, which started at 8am today, was concentrated within 6km radius around the village.— DayakDaily
