
KUCHING, Oct 16: A 92-year-old man is feared to have drowned after falling from a boat into Sungai Kanowit yesterday (Oct 15).
According to a report from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they received a call regarding the incident at 6.35pm and firefighters from Bomba Kanowit were deployed to the location.
Based on a witness’s statement, the missing man was on a boat returning from his farm across the river before he was seen to have fallen into the river at around 6pm.
Following the firefighters’ arrival at the location at 7pm, a search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched together with local villagers.
The operation was suspended at 7.45pm due to bad weather and will resume today. — DayakDaily
