Missing 8-year-old girl found safe after frantic search

SIBU, Feb 10: After a frantic search by the Search and Rescue (SAR) team, an eight-year-old girl who was reported missing from her school hostel in Jalan Nibong Tada has been found eight hours later.

It was learned that Monica Noga Marylyn, from Rh Lapok, Sungai Menyan, had sleep-walked her way out of SK Sg Menyan.

Her roommates reported the matter to the school authorities when she was not seen at the hostel at 5.10am today.

Sibu Fire and Rescue chief, Wan Kamaruddin Wan Ahmad, said his department rushed four firefighters to the school upon receiving a distress call at 5.30am.

Joining them in searching for the girl were 12 teachers and 30 villagers. The search was done around the school and nearby areas.
