KUCHING, Feb 10: The Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group is organising a charity “Mermaid Pink Run 2020” as their 20th anniversary celebration.

Aimed to create public awareness, the run, with the tagline #SayNoToBreastCancer, will be held twice, one each in Kuching and Miri.

The run in Kuching is set for March 29 at Kuching South City Council (MBKS), while the one in Miri is scheduled on April 19 at Miri Times Square.

Online registration can be made at http://www.malaysiarunner.com

Manual registration are also available at Revrun Green Height Mall, Sarawak Breast Cancer Association at Jalan Maxwell and Krista Kindergartens.

Registration fees are RM50 per person for individual runner and RM45 per person for a group of four. Closing date for registration is Feb 28.

Each participant who register will be entitled a running tee and specially designed finisher’s medal.

In supporting the cause, Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, said in order to provide support and promote breast awareness to the community in Sarawak, the group has been organising numerous health screenings, talks and motivational activities.

“The number one cancer that kills women is breast cancer, while cervical cancer is the number two most common cancer that kills women.

“Therefore it was vital to create greater public awareness on the importance of early diagnosis of breast cancer made possible by the advancement of medical science,” she told a press conference here today.

She added that if there is early examination and given early treatment, lives can be saved. — DayakDaily
