Missing 6yo boy found drowned in Sungai Debak

The deceased's body is seen being brought into a police vehicle for further action.

KUCHING, Sept 29: A 6-year-old boy was found drowned in Sungai Debak near Kampung Hilir Debak Laut yesterday (Sept 28).

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), after receiving a call regarding the incident at 10.53am on Thursday, personnel from Bomba Betong and the Bomba Volunteer Squad (PBS) Debak and the villagers launched a search and rescue (SAR) operation.

The deceased’s body was found at 10pm about 700m from where the victim was last seen and was later handed over to the police for further action.


Based on the chronology of the incident, a witness saw the victim, Mohd Naqib Iman Nasriman, go out alone to Sungai Debak jetty at 9.15am on Sept 28.

Following that, the witness informed the victim’s family about the incident, which prompted family members to look for the victim at the jetty.

However, they only found the victim’s slippers and shirt at the location and proceeded to make a police report. — DayakDaily
