49yo man with special needs found dead after 36-door longhouse in Julau razed in fire

KUCHING, Sept 29: A 49-year-old man with special needs was found dead after the 36-door Rh Micheal Marau longhouse in Julau was destroyed in a fire.

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre yesterday (Sept 28), after receiving the call regarding the incident at 4.26pm, firefighters from Bomba Bintangor were rushed to the location.

The operations commander reported that the deceased’s body was found at 5.30pm by firefighters, and a woman also suffered burns during the incident.

The longhouse was destroyed in the incident, leaving 189 residents homeless. — DayakDaily
