Missing 49yo man found dead in Sungai Nyigu, bite marks suggest crocodile attack

BINTULU, Feb 18: A 49-year-old man who went missing in Sungai Nyigu on Monday (Feb 17) was found dead today, with crocodile bite marks suspected to be the cause of death.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Bintulu reported that the victim’s body was located and recovered at 2.32pm by the search and rescue (SAR) team, about 1.8 kilometres downstream from the river.

Family members have identified the body and confirmed it was of the missing man.

The body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action.

The incident occurred around 5.30pm on Monday when the victim, identified as David Gira had gone fishing in the river and failed to return home.

His wife filed a missing person report, prompting the SAR operation to begin today. — DayakDaily
