KUCHING, May 15: Miri city is preparing to host the Sarawak Day 2025 celebration, which is set to take place on July 22 with a line-up of large-scale programmes aimed at fostering patriotism, unity, and love for the State among the people of Sarawak.
According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, preparations are well underway following the second meeting of the Miri Division Sarawak Day 2025 Celebration Implementation Committee, held yesterday (May 14) at the Miri Division Resident’s Office.
The meeting was chaired by Miri Division resident Galong Luang and attended by various leaders and agency representatives, including Pujut assemblyman and Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang.
During the meeting, Galong stressed the importance of tight coordination and strategic cooperation among all departments and agencies to ensure the smooth execution of the celebration.
Key focus areas include safety, promotion, event management, and community involvement.
Among the exciting highlights planned are a Sales and Exhibition Carnival, Sarawak Talent showcase, Zumba sessions, Unity Walk, Multi-faith Thanksgiving Ceremony, a townhall session with State leaders, and the main Sarawak Day Assembly on the night of July 22 at Miri City Stadium.
The celebration is expected to be graced by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang are also expected to attend the festivities. — DayakDaily
