Miri, Sibu account for 2 new Covid-19 deaths in Sarawak today

KUCHING, April 9: Sarawak has recorded two new Covid-19 related deaths today, one each in Miri and Sibu.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the victims were aged 47 and 68, and both had comorbidities.


Meanwhile, Sarawak also registered 350 new cases for the day, with only one in the serious categories.

Breaking down the clinical categories, there were 105 Category 1’s, 244 Category 2’s, and one Category 5.

In terms of districts, Kuching remained the biggest contributor with 113 cases, followed by Miri (51), Bintulu (40), Sibu (30), Serian (21), and Samarahan (10).

Other districts with new infections included Sarikei, Sri Aman, Pusa (9 each), Bau, Betong (8 each), Dalat, Matu (5 each), Tatau (4), Limbang, Mukah (3 each), Simunjan, Lundu, Asajaya, Lawas, Subis (2 each), Tanjung Manis, Lubok Antu, Marudi, Kabong, Belaga, Kapit, Saratok, Sebauh, Song, Pakan, Tebedu, and Beluru (1 each).

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak now stands at 302,233.

There were no new Covid-19 clusters reported in Sarawak, thus leaving only four still active as of this day. — DayakDaily
