Miri May Fest 2024 launched to mark 19th anniversary of Miri’s city status

MIRI, April 29: Miri City Council (MCC) has launched Miri May Fest 2024—a month-long festival filled with exciting activities for local folk and adventurous travellers.

With the theme ‘Equatorial Harmony: A blend of cultures and flavours’, Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang said the event scheduled to take place from May 1 to 30 is in conjunction with the 19th anniversary of Miri’s elevation to a city on May 20, 2005.


“This year, we are thrilled to introduce the digital Miri May Fest Booklet, your guide to our celebration, offering insights into Miri’s culture, arts, and community. With engaging articles, vibrant photographs, detailed schedules, and maps, the booklet ensures you can fully embrace the festivities and discover local talents and businesses.

“We already have 31 events and three menus confirmed, with more to come. We have partnered with six influencers to conduct social media marketing for the events and menus featured in Miri May Fest 2024.

“We continue to welcome everyone to join us in making Miri a ‘Green, Smart, and Most Liveable International Resort City’ until May 31, 2024,” he said in a report issued today.

At the same time, Yii informed that Miri City Day celebration which is slated to happen on May 20 will begin with a flag-raising ceremony at Miri City Hall, at 8am, followed by various activities.

He also said Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will grace the Miri City Day Gala Dinner scheduled to take place at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club on May 20, at 6.30pm. — DayakDaily
