Police looking for next-of-kin of man nicknamed ‘Awi’ found dead at Kapit night market

KAPIT, April 29: Police here are looking for the next-of-kin of a man whose identity is not known to claim his body.

In a statement today, Kapit district police chief DSP Rohana Nanu said the victim’s body was found at Wharf Pasar Baru (Night Market), Kapit at around 6.35am on April 24.


She added that the victim had no identification documents (IDs) on him—only that he went by the nickname ‘Awi’.

“A ‘sudden death report’ investigation paper has also been opened in this case,” said Rohana.

She added that the victim’s body is still at the Kapit Hospital mortuary.

Rohana has requested anyone who has a missing family member or who knows the deceased to contact sub inspector Steward Albert at 013-7595095 or to come to the Kapit police station within one week from today. — DayakDaily
