MIRI, April 7: A flash mob was staged here this morning to protest the Article 1(2) of the Federal Constition amendment bill tabled in Parliament on April 4.

The protesters were led by Fong Pau Teck of the Sarawak Independence Alliance (SIA).

They demonstrated for about 30 minutes before dispersing peacefully.

The group arrived at the old court house compound at 9am, chanting “Kami Negara Sarawak” while holding the old Sarawak flags with the crown in the middle.

Fong when met later said the amendment Bill downgrades Sarawak’s rights.

Miri police personnel were also seen stationed at the scene, monitoring the situation.

No untoward incident was reported during the event.

Seen arriving barely 10 minutes after the flash mob started were Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting and Miri Mayor Adam Yii.

They left 10 minutes later after greetings the protestors.
