Miri FCA enters Malaysia Book of Records for ‘The Ideal City Miri Resort’ creation using recycled materials

KUCHING, July 21: Federation of Miri Division Chinese Associations (Miri FCA) secured a place in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for building ‘The Ideal City Miri Resort’ models using recycled materials on Sunday (July 17).

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) yesterday (July 20), Deputy Minister for Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew said the programme received encouraging response with participation from schools in Miri, Baram, Subis, and Niah districts, including private parties and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to produce building models utilising recycled materials.

He also said the programme was also organised in line with Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 with ‘Environmental Sustainability’ as one of three main pillars in line with the State’s vision, strategy, initiatives, projects and policies that would propel Sarawak towards a healthier environment.

Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak also sponsored RM65,000 to support the programme.

Meanwhile, MBOR record consultant Edwin Yeoh announced that the programme has successfully created a total of 886 building models utitlising recycled materials. ā€” DayakDaily
