Miri factory explosion leaves one worker severely injured, three others burned

KUCHING, Dec 2: One worker was severely injured while three others suffered bodily burns in a factory explosion in Miri.

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre today, they received a call regarding the incident at 10.43am and deployed Bomba Lutong to the location.

According to the operations commander, upon firefighters’ arrival at the scene, they noted that the explosion involved a wood-burning stove to generate heat in the factory.

The victims were sent to a nearby hospital using a factory van for initial treatment before the firefighters arrived.

Firefighters then conducted an operation to stabilise the situation.

The cause of the explosion and the total loss incurred are still being investigated. — DayakDaily
