KUCHING, Sept 7: The Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development (Mintred) participated in the China International Fair for Trade in Services (Ciftis) 2021, held at the National Convention Centre, Beijing, China from Sept 2 to 7, 2021.

This is the second year Mintred has participated at Ciftis following its participation online in 2020.

For this year, Mintred set up a Sarawak Pavilion at the Fair whereby nine export-ready companies were invited to promote their products and services.

These companies included Rimbunan Hijau Group’s (RH) Bee Farm (Malaysia’s largest bee farm producing high-antioxidant stingless bee honey products), Cocoworld’s Gula Apong (palm sugar), Kumang & Co (mixture of Iban and modern concept of couture), Dahfa Food Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (dried fish fillet snacks), Kun Products (Sarawak native fruit candy, pickles, and candied jelly), Antare Adventures Sdn Bhd (high quality Sarawak-grown grains without any fabricated additives), Nang Ori (Sarawak pepper products) and Mulu Group Limited (promoting local F&B service in China and laksa paste).

Mintred in a recent statement said the Sarawak Pavilion @ Ciftis 2021 was themed “Food & Beverage and Trade & Services for Cultural Exchange and Gastro-Diplomacy” and has attracted large media coverage including from CCTV China, Xinhua Media, Hong Kong Media and other overseas media.

“China is Sarawak’s major trading partner with trade valued at RM20.2 billion in 2020 mainly in minerals and fuel, chemicals and machinery and transport equipment.

“Even with the prevalent Covid-19 pandemic ravaging the world economy, Mintred continues to support our SMEs to broaden their business opportunities for overseas markets. Ciftis has provided another platform for the growth of businesses and trade in promoting world economic recovery.

“Sarawak welcomes investors from China to explore opportunities in trade and investment in Sarawak and look forward to more mutual collaborations and partnership,” it said. — DayakDaily
