KUCHING, Feb 23: Political analyst Datuk Peter Minos opined that more intrigue and tricks is expected within the Pakatan Harapan (PH) ahead of the prime minister power transition.
This following the coalition’s top leadership agreed to let Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad decide on the handover date.
“Between now until November 2020, many things can and will happen because in politics, one week is like years.
“Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad can most probably engineer two things, which is getting a new prime minister who is friendly to him and his family for good reasons.
“Secondly, he could form a new political coalition that to him, will ‘reunite’ the peninsular Malays, which necessarily, will be at the expense of PKR, DAP and PH itself,” he said in a statement.
Minos was responding to Pakatan top leaders agreement to let Dr Mahathir decide the date of handing over of power to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The agreement affirmed that the transition of power will take place after the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit in November this year.
He also questioned whether the transition of power has been resolved.
“Sensing the trick and feeling tricked by Tun Mahathir, Anwar and his men will react sooner or later.
“Soon they will realise that ‘after the Apec summit’ can be after November 2020 or up to 2023, when Tun Mahathir’s term is up,” he opined, while referring Dr Mahathir as “a fox is always a fox”. — DayakDaily
