SAMARAHAN, June 15: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos has given the thumbs-up to Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) for taking part in administering the Covid-19 vaccines.

He said Unimas’ participation was very much appreciated as the venue itself has the potential to be yet another large-scale vaccination center (PPV) in Sarawak.

This would speed up the immunisation programme as well as assist Sarawak in achieving its target to vaccinate 80 per cent of the population by August this year.

“This morning I made my official rounds and I must say that Unimas has done a truly great job in setting up a PPV at its huge Detar Putra Hall. Very big, very impressive, systems well done and all good and fine.

“Now Unimas had arranged and is giving the vaccinations to its 2,400 staff members, both academic and non-academic. By Friday, members of the public will flock here. In time, 5,000 will be vaccinated per day at Unimas. Simply commendable,” he said in a statement today.

He added that it was really good that more and more members of the public and the government agencies are chipping in to help in the current war against Covid-19 on their own accord.

“At this rate, the government can and will achieve the goal of vaccinating 200,000 Malaysians per day and by December, 80 per cent will get the vaccine doses.” ā€” DayakDaily
