KUCHING, March 17: Dato Ibrahim Baki has been appointed the Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy and Petros), and he will report to Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi effective today.
According to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the appointment has prompted a minor reshuffle within the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Cabinet, which sees Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, who was the deputy minister under the same ministry, now appointed as Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Office (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU, and Islamic Affairs) effective today as well.
“The new appointment and the minor reshuffle aims to strengthen the GPS government’s service delivery to the rakyat and enhance the energy sector, including investment in the oil and gas industry.
“These will also enable the Sarawak government to effectively strategise its effort towards achieving Sarawak’s vision of becoming a developed and high-income region under the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS2030),” he said.
He said this at a press conference following Ibrahim’s swearing-in ceremony, which took place at Astana Negeri today.
Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Minister for Transport Sarawak Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin; Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak and Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Minister of Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Sarawak Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah; Julaihi; and Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar were among those present during the press conference. — DayakDaily
