Minor earthquake hits Ranau, Sabah

RANAU, Dec 16: A weak earthquake measuring 2.8 magnitude struck Ranau, Sabah at 2.56pm today.

Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported that the quake was centred at coordinates 5.97°N and 116.57°E, approximately 15km west of Ranau, with a depth of 10km. Tremors were felt in the surrounding areas of Ranau.

MetMalaysia confirmed that the earthquake poses no tsunami threat to Malaysia and is closely monitoring the situation. –DayakDaily
