KUCHING, June 23: The federal Ministry of Rural and Regional Development established a monitoring and coordination committee to address delays in project implementation, particularly due to technical issues and overlapping powers between agencies.
According to TVS, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who also heads the ministry, stated that the committee will be chaired by his deputy minister, Datuk Rubiah Wang, whose role is to coordinate and expedite the implementation of rural development projects.
“The establishment of this committee is a strategic initiative of KKDW after we found that many projects were experiencing delays, especially due to land ownership issues and other technical problems,” he said after the groundbreaking ceremony for the Jalan Kampung Kupang to Jalan Bajau Intersection Project at Rumah Panjang Rengan in Saratok on Sunday (June 22).
He stated that better coordination with Sarawak government agencies was also crucial, especially in this region, which has its own agency for project management.
“I am confident that with more systematic coordination, project implementation can be expedited, and people can immediately enjoy the benefits,” he said. — DayakDaily
