KUCHING, June 23: The late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang was more than just the wife of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg—she was a source of unwavering strength who stood steadfastly by his side, says Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Speaking to reporters when met after attending a local function today, Nanta who is also the Kapit MP, expressed deep condolences on the passing of Juma’ani, describing her as someone who played a vital yet often unseen role in supporting the Premier throughout his leadership journey.
“Although I didn’t know her personally in great depth, it is clear to many of us that she was someone who truly gave strength to our Premier.
“As the saying goes, ‘behind every successful man is a woman’, and that seems very true in this case,” he said.
He recalled seeing her accompany the Premier at various programmes, including events in remote areas such as Kapit, where her compassion for the people stood out.
“She was always present, even in rural areas, showing concern for the people’s welfare. Her passing is a great loss to all of us who valued her quiet yet impactful presence,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dato Seri Tiong King Sing, who is the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, expressed sadness over Juma’ani’s passing.
“With deep sorrow, I express my condolences to the Premier and his family members. May he be strong and resilient in this difficult time.
“Let us pray together that all matters will be eased and that Puan Sri Juma’ani’s soul will be blessed,” said Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP and Dudong assemblyman.
