MIRI, April 17: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Miri has assured that the supply of essential items for the upcoming Hari Raya is sufficient.

Its chief Joe Azmi Jamil said the public should not panic and worry about the supply of essential goods as his officers are constantly monitoring the situation.

“Please avoid panic buying because the supply of raw goods such as chicken eggs, chickens, and beef are more than enough for the upcoming festive season,” he said.

He said this when contacted today after checking the supply and prices of essential items around the city centre in conjunction with the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Joe Azmi said the ministry had not received any complaints regarding this division’s essential goods shortage.

Thirty items have been listed under the scheme until April 30, which include local beef, imported beef, imported buffalo meat from India, mackerel, sardines, ikan tongkol and ikan demudok, tomatoes, red chillies, imported round cabbage, long beans, cucumbers, mustard greens, imported old ginger, imported red onion, yellow onion, Chinese garlic, Indian red onion, imported potatoes, dried chillies, peanuts, coconuts, and grated coconut. — DayakDaily
