KUCHING, April 6: The Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (Mintred) gave out some 700 packets of bubur lambuk (spiced rice porridge) to the local community around Petra Jaya today.
According to a press release, the Bubur Lambuk Distribution Programme organised by Mintred in collaboration with its Sports and Recreation Club demonstrated community spirit in the preparation and giving out of bubur lambuk, a tradition which has been practised during Ramadan in Sarawak.
Deputy Minister of International Trade and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh was present to hand out bubur lambuk to the public.
Mintred acting permanent secretary Dzulkornain Masron said that continuing the tradition of making and sharing the bubur lambuk cultivates the values of team spirit, kindness and care among civil servants.
“This cultural programme is one of Mintred’s efforts to be closer to the community at various levels, while also taking the opportunity of Ramadan to share blessings with others.
“Despite being tired from fasting throughout the day, the cooking went smoothly with strong team spirit. This also enabled us to strengthen camaraderie among Mintred staff,” he added.
Mintred Sports and Recreation Club is also planning to carry out more such religious and community service programmes in the future. — DayakDaily
