KUCHING, July 25: Youth, Sports, And Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) Sarawak Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah emphasises that his ministry is committed to supporting various initiatives that can have positive impacts, such as the Malaysian Youth Parliament (PBM) and the ‘Rakan Muda’ programme.
This is in response to PBM’s announcement on its official Facebook Page yesterday that eight Sarawakian youths were elected as youth parliament members to represent Sarawak in the 2023/2024 term.
The eight youths are Mohd Helmi Zamil, Abdul Adzim Adzmi Abdul Rahman, Mohamad Zul Hariz Mohd Fadzli, Raden Khairulzaman Raden Bustari, Rapunzel Anthony Jamuh, Muhammad Nuur Iman Suip, Mohamad Shahran Mohamad Lizamberi and Damia Mirza Supian.
“The Sarawak government, through MYSED, also offers support for initiatives that benefit the youth in the State.
“Even before this, we had already appointed youth parliamentarians as Sarawak State Youth Icons and also selected some to serve as representatives of the people.
“This demonstrates the presence of continuity, as those who participate in the youth parliament will not only stop there; the experience they acquire will enable them to progress and become future youth leaders,” Abdul Karim, who is also Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak Minister, stated today at a press conference on Bayu’s participation in Festival de Confelens at Baitulmakmur II, Petra Jaya here.
He also mentioned that these individuals have been rightfully promoted and possess the necessary skills to effectively engage with others, thereby providing valuable insights into the State and national affairs.
“As a result, they will be able to inform their peers about our government’s direction, and therefore we support them,” he remarked.
PBM is a youth council and simulation of the parliamentary proceedings of the Parliament of Malaysia for youths aged between 16 and 30.
