KUCHING, June 24: Young Sarawakian artists should be groomed by professionals in the field as they have the potential to be the next Vincent Van Gogh or Leonardo Da Vinci, says Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, And Performing Arts Sarawak, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Abdul Karim said these artists have big dreams and the potential to take the art world by storm.
He added that this is achievable as Sarawak has its own art gallery and organisers who can showcase these artistsā works.
“Who does not want to go on a world stage to expose themselves? It is the same in the art world,” he told reporters when met at the āBIC Festival Vol 2: Celebrating Sarawak Cultural Revival through Artā at La Promenade Mall today.
Abdul Karim shared that he is very impressed by young artists’ works which is a testament to their creativity and talent.
“Some people can speak very well and are extroverts while others are quiet, and they show it in art forms,” he opined.
Abdul Karim also lauded Borneo Illustration and Creative (BIC) and Hock Seng Lee Berhad for getting these artists together to showcase their work.
“This is good for all the artists and us in Sarawak,ā he said.

Among the festival exhibits are āTree of Solidarityā by Chameleon Art Studio, āLove from Aboveā by ArtTod Art Studio, and āThe Land of Hopeā by Fun Art Club.
