KUCHING, Feb 5: The Thaipusam celebration can become a tourist attraction in Malaysia, says Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.

The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture said in Malaysia, all festivals are celebrated together by people from all walks of life regardless of race and religion, including foreign tourists who will visit the temples to witness the unique ritual procession by the Hindus.

“This atmosphere has embodied the spirits of tolerance, religious freedom, unity and harmony among the various communities in Malaysia,” said Tiong in a Facebook post today.

Apart from that, Tiong said the Thaipusam celebration this year falls on the same day as the Lantern Festival which is known as Chap Goh Meh.

He said this not only means that Hindus and Chinese are celebrating together, but also proves the uniqueness of the country.

“On this occasion, on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, I would like to wish (a happy) Thaipusam and Happy Chap Goh Meh to all Malaysians,” he added. – DayakDaily
