KUCHING, Nov 30: The Works Ministry (KKR) must break free from ‘denial syndrome’ and confront its weaknesses head-on as the country enters the first phase of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), stressed minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

In a Facebook post, he said the challenges that the ministry faces are not small, which include budget constraints, the urban–rural infrastructure quality gap, and public demands for efficiency and transparency.

“However, I am confident that KKR can lead this wave of change with a bolder, more open, and data-driven mindset,” he said following a retreat with top management and agencies from Nov 29 to 30.

He said during the session, he reminded public servants to be more frontier and adaptable to technology, instil a spirit of continuous learning and improvement, put an end to recurring failures such as delayed projects, weak monitoring, and poor documentation, and strengthen maintenance, enhance transparency, and ensure every project is completed on time and according to specifications.

“I want the entire KKR and its agencies to move with a collaborative work culture grounded in data, facts, and integrity. The people do not want to hear promises—they want to see results.

“Let us begin 2026 with bolder and more responsible steps,” said Nanta, who is also the MP for Kapit. — DayakDaily
