KUCHING, Jan 8: The amendments to the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) Act 2008 would be finalised by June this year, says Women, Family and Community Development Minister Dato Sri Nancy Shukri.
According to a report by Bernama, she said the amendments were necessary because many felt the current law was weak or toothless and that the ministry is considering an enforcement aspect.
She told reporters this after flagging off the 27t Annual Charity Walk-Jog-Wheel-A-Thon at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur today.
During the event, Nancy also disclosed that there are 633,653 registered PwD throughout Malaysia as of December last year. — DayakDaily
