KOTA SAMARAHAN, Aug 2: A new site owned by the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS), valued at RM1.9 million, will not only strengthen the area’s public facilities but also provide a more suitable venue for various large-scale programmes in the future.
According to Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, the area, which was previously an open field, was upgraded by MPKS with an allocation of RM1.9 million, and Jom Heboh Segulai Sejalai Sarawak is the first programme to use the new facility.
“MPKS upgraded this area at a cost of RM1.9 million. Jom Heboh Segulai Sejalai Sarawak is the first programme to use this new site.
“The new facility has the potential to support the organisation of more large-scale programmes in Kota Samarahan, thereby benefiting the community and stimulating local economic activity,” he said at the officiation of Jom Heboh Segulai Sejalai Sarawak here on Saturday (Aug 1), as reported by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
Meanwhile, he also noted that the encouraging public response to Jom Heboh Segulai Sejalai Sarawak also shows that Kota Samarahan has the potential to continue being chosen as the venue for similar programmes in the future.
Abdul Karim, who is also the Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development, added that organising large-scale programmes not only provides entertainment for the public but also creates opportunities for local entrepreneurs to generate income through sales and promotional activities. — DayakDaily
