KUCHING, June 22: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) plans to introduce Malaysia as the largest Umrah hub in Asia region, says its Dato Seri Tiong King Sing.
Tiong said the programme will focus on people in countries such as China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and other countries in the region to attract them to travel to Malaysia to process their visas before performing the Umrah.
“My Deputy, Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan will be given full responsibility to manage this matter,” he said in a Facebook post today.
He said implementation methods and details for the programme will be announced later.
He added that the programme will not only to benefit the country’s economic growth, but also promote Malaysia as a developing and competitive Islamic country in line with the concept of a Malaysia Madani. — DayakDaily
