SINGAPORE, Aug 4: A Sarawak government delegation, led by Minister of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) Datuk Julaihi Narawi, was in Singapore for a two-day visit to learn the best practices experience on water supply and technologies used by Singapore’s National Water Agency (PUB).
According to a media release issued today, the delegation had conducted a meeting with PUB at Marina Barrage recently and was given a briefing by PUB’s Director of the Industry and Technology Collaboration Department, Michael Toh.
“The PUB hopes to establish a collaboration with the Sarawak government in the water supply sector in the future.
“They also express their support on Malaysia Water Association’s (MWA) effort to make Kuching city the host for International Water Congress 2028, which is now in the final selection stage between Kuching (Malaysia) and Sao Paolo (Brazil),” MUT said.
The delegation was joined by Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication (Utilities) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, MUT’s permanent secretary Jafri Lias and MWA Sarawak president Kelvin Kuek.
In a separate statement, MUT also informed that the delegation had paid a courtesy call to Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Julaihi’s discussion with Dr Tan See Leng, Singapore’s Second Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister of Manpower, followed the previous meeting.
“The discussion focuses on strengthening collaboration and effort in supplying electricity from Sarawak to Singapore,” it stated. — DayakDaily
