KUALA LUMPUR, Mar 17: Those who breach the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Movement Control Order (MCO) will be compounded based on the severity of the offence.
According to the MalayMail, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Parliament) Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said the severity of the offences is divided into three categories.
They are offences resulting in high infection risks and significant impact to the community on a large scale which is listed as the first category, offences resulting in high infection risks but less significant impact on the community (second category) and offences resulting in low infection risks and zero impact to the community (third category).
He cited offences in the third category are failure to maintain physical distancing between others, not following the operating business hours, not wearing face masks and not scanning through MySejahtera for checking-in into business premises.
Takiyuddin noted those were the most common breaches of SOPs recorded.
“An individual who commits an offence for failing to wear a face-mask, for the first time it is RM1,500.
“Failure to register when entering using MySejahtera or a logbook, they are fined RM1,500 out of the maximum RM10,000.
“The same goes to those who fail to ensure physical distancing, RM1,500 from a maximum stipulated amount,” he said during a press conference today.
In the meantime, Takiyuddin said those who were fined will be able to enjoy a discount of 50 per cent upon payment within one week.
He added offenders who pay their fine from eight to 14 days are eligible for a 25 per cent discount.
Meanwhile, individuals and companies who flouted the SOPs are subject to a maximum fine of RM10,000. —DayakDaily
