KUCHING, July 23: Sarawak Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah congratulated Sarawakian diver Bertrand Rhodict Lises for becoming the first Malaysian to secure a spot in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
He said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was also happy when he learned about it.
“He is also monitoring the progress of the Sarawakian athlete,” he said when met by reporters after launching the Sarawak Open Bonzai and Suiseki Championship 2023 held at La Promenade Mall today.
He also believes that Bertrand will not be the only one (Sarawakian) to represent Malaysia in the Olympics and remains hopeful there will be a few more in other categories.
