KUCHING, July 26: Citrawarna 2026’s ability to attract over 700 international tourists from various countries to experience Malaysia’s culture firsthand proves that arts, culture, and heritage are not merely treasures that must be preserved, but also tourism assets capable of attracting more visitors to the country.
In a Facebook post, Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said that the Citra Perarakan at Dataran Merdeka featured 3,500 dancers nationwide, reflecting Malaysia’s uniquely distinctive character in the eyes of the world.
“Citrawarna 2026 is a platform that showcases the richness and diversity of Malaysia’s culture, which continues to be preserved and passed down through generations, and can unite Malaysians from different races, religions, and backgrounds.
“I record my highest appreciation to all ministries, agencies, strategic partners, arts and cultural practitioners, personnel, volunteers, and everyone who worked together to make Citrawarna 2026 a success.
“May this effort continue to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a world-class cultural tourism destination while ensuring that our heritage remains alive and is passed on to future generations,” said Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP and Dudong assemblyman.
Meanwhile, in a press release by Tourism Malaysia, Citrawarna 2026 was officiated by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim with Tiong in attendance.
The over 700 international visitors at the event were through specially curated travel packages, with participants from markets including China, India, Mauritius, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and France, reflecting international interest in Malaysia’s cultural tourism experiences. — DayakDaily
