KUCHING, July 8: The newly completed Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) Complex in Kuching will host its first ever event, the Sarawak Neurosurgery Conference 2025, on Aug 2, marking a significant milestone in the State’s commitment to interfaith harmony and charitable development.

According to a Facebook post by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, the final inspection of the complex’s convention facilities was carried out during a recent Sarawak Unifor Charitable Trust (SUCT) Board of Trustees meeting ahead of the landmark event.

Developed on three acres of prime state land allocated by the Sarawak government, the Unifor Complex was built using RM70 million in grant funding and is fully owned and operated by UniforCT.

Dr Sim, who is also Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, clarified that UniforCT is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) established in 2018 under the Sarawak Charitable Trust Ordinance 1994, and is entirely separate from the government agency Unifor, which is responsible for coordinating affairs of non-Muslim religious bodies in the State.

He emphasised the uniqueness of the initiative, noting that such a large-scale, state-supported infrastructure dedicated to multireligious and charitable causes is “only in Sarawak”.

Also present during the final inspection were Deputy Premier and Minister in charge of Unifor, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, and Unifor director Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau. — DayakDaily
