MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for south and central Sarawak, valid until 9pm (April 30)

KUCHING, April 30: Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for various areas in Sarawak today.

Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds affecting Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Sri Aman (Lubok Antu), Sibu (Kanowit and Selangau), Kapit (Song, Kapit and Bukit Mabong) and Bintulu (Tatau).


The warning issued at 5pm today remains in effect until 9pm.

A warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour or with the bad weather expected to last for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a maximum of six hours for every release. — DayakDaily
