MetMalaysia: Heavy rain, strong winds forecasted in Sarawak until 5pm (Feb 6)

KUCHING, Feb 6: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Sarawak this afternoon.

Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro, and Matu), Kapit (Song), Bintulu (Tatau), and Miri (Beluru and Miri).

The warning, which was issued at 2pm today, will remain in effect until 5pm.


“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per release,” it highlighted. — DayakDaily
