KUCHING, April 7: A new chapter of shared goals and stronger Sarawakian brotherhood has begun, said Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, referring to the dissolution of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and the acceptance of over 80,000 PSB members en bloc into PDP.

ā€œI call upon all our ā€˜saudaraā€™ (brothers) and ā€˜saudariā€™ (sisters) in Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) to close ranks now as we welcome our long-awaited union with Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).

ā€œI hope that all of us will embrace this collaboration wholeheartedly towards fostering unity and collective effort towards shared goals for this beautiful state we call home.

ā€œNo more shall we resort to the tired old ways of going behind our friendsā€™ backs with malicious intent to push our agenda. We must truly work together and prove ourselves to the people and for our future generations,ā€ he said in a statement on his official Facebook page today.

Tiong, who is also Bintulu Member of Parliament (MP), expressed gratitude towards the leaders of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) for their support and endorsement of the alliance, highlighting the importance of inter-party relations and effective partnership.

ā€œThrough mutual respect, cooperation, and dedication, the collaborative efforts between PDP and PSB will bring about meaningful progress and prosperity for the constituents they serve,ā€ he added.

Last night (April 6), it was announced that PSB had dissolved.

With that, more than 80,000 PSB members have been accepted en bloc into PDP.

At a welcoming party for former PSB leaders and members last night at a hotel in Sibu, Tiong announced that the top leaders of PSB would be made vice presidents of PDP.

Bawang Assan assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh has been appointed as PDPā€™s senior vice president, while Baā€™Kelalan assemblyman Baru Bian and Engkilili assemblyman Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa have been named as PDP vice presidents. ā€” DayakDaily
