SIBU, April 13: A total of 26 individuals have been compounded RM1,000 for violating the movement control order (MCO) at roadblocks here today.
Of the number, 17 were compounded at a roadblock conducted at Jalan Lanang and nine others at Jalan Dr Wong Soon Kai.
Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, said the violators were those caught with two persons either in their car or motorcycle.
“Roadblock is conducted to ensure that only one person, that is the driver, is in the car. This is also the same for motorcycle where motorcyclist must not have a pillion rider,” he said.
Stanley warned that roadblock would be conducted everyday and those caught with two persons in a vehicle would be compounded.
Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director, Comm Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, had issued a statement on April 8 that police would be issuing a RM1,000 compound notice to those who violate the MCO.
The compounding action, he said, was taken under Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020. — DayakDaily
