KUCHING, April 13: Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) Commercial has introduced the first “Covid Buster” sanitation tunnel in the state.

The tunnel, named C-Mosh sanitiser, was set up at Plaza Merdeka shopping mall today.

Centexs chief executive officer, Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abdul Rahman, said the centre was looking to find a solution to curb Covid-19 and came up with an auto-sanitising technology to help frontliners at public places.

“Through this effort, it is hoped to reduce the risk to the public from being infected. The tunnel can be placed anywhere, from hospitals to factories, government buildings, private institutions, shopping malls or even private events,” he told reporters at the installation of the sanitation tunnel.

Individuals entering Plaza Merdeka will be screened first by having their temperatures taken, before they are allowed to enter the sanitation tunnel.

Once in the tunnel, the auto sanitisation will take place and one just need to make a 360 degrees turn for about 10 to 15 seconds and then exit, he explained on the mechanism.

Made from acrylic for its wall, plastic curtain and aluminium frame, the tunnel is powered with a humidifier machine with a solution tank and a total size of about 2m x 1m x 8ft.

“There may be people who are sceptical about the content used in the sanitation process, but rest assured, they are safe. The chemicals used is Chlorine Dioxide-based formula, which has been approved for the purpose of disinfection everywhere in the world by FDA, HACCP, NASA, WHO, OMRI, Malaysian hospitals and more.

“Centrifugal mist making technology can produce millions of mist mounds per hour in 5-microns to 10 microns sizes for immediate and effective disinfection,” Syeed Mohd Hussien said.

Fully developed and locally produced by Centexs Commercial, the tunnel is available for sale or rent, he continued.

Syeed Mohd Hussien said the cost for the device is about RM10,000 per unit suitable for commercial, public and private premises, while smaller size, which can be used at home, is about half the price.

“Currently, we have produced 25 units of these tunnels and four of them are located at Plaza Merdeka. For those who are interested in getting or renting it, they can contact Centexs Commercial at 082-846408 or 846619,” he said, adding that it only takes two hours to install.

The package includes one aluminium frame with acrylic side panels, plastic curtain, Toclan Humidifier machine, solution tank, 100 Chlorine Dioxide tablets, one unit of IR thermometer and weekly check and maintenance. — DayakDaily
