KUCHING, April 19: Auto-teller machine (ATM) operations in banks throughout the country will be limited to 12 hours only per day, says Senior Minister Dauk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He revealed the decision comes after the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) reported that quite a number of people are using visiting ATMs which operate 24 hours a day, as an excuse to go out during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

ā€œIn today’s meeting, it is decided that the operation time for ATMs will be limited to 8am until 8pm,ā€ he said in a press conference today.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also disclosed that the government has gazetted 11 temporary prisons for those arrested for violating the MCO.

He also said that the Ministry of Health (MoH) will assist in providing medical personnel for these temporary prisons.

ā€œThese temporary prisons will start operations on April 23, 2020,ā€ he added. ā€” DayakDaily
