Covid-19: Seven patients recovered, 5 new cases in Sarawak

KUCHING, April 19: Sarawak recorded another five more positive cases of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) today, bringing the total cumulative cases to 408.

On a positive note, another seven patients have recovered and discharged, said the State Disaster Management Committee.

All the five new cases were from Kuching and being treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), it added.

“Seven patients of Covid-19 have recovered and discharged from the hospital today. Of the seven patients, five are from SGH and two are from Sibu Hospital,” the committee said in a statement.

Sarawak also recorded 99 new cases of person under investigation (PUI).

Out of the 99 new PUI cases, 52 were recorded in Kuching, Miri (18), Samarahan (9), Serian (8), Betong (8) and one each from Bau, Lundu, Sri Aman and Sarikei.

On the existing PUI cases, 95 are awaiting laboratory results, it added.

On another note, the committee said another 55 Sarawakians have returned to the state, either from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah or Labuan yesterday.

With the additional returnees, the total number of Sarawakians who have returned to the state since the start of the second phase movement control order (MCO) was 1,493 people.

The committee said the compliance rate of the MCO in Sarawak remained steady at 97 per cent. — DayakDaily
