MIRI: Those who violate the Movement Control Order (MCO) will be liable to a compound of RM1,500 by Miri City Council (MCC) with immediate effect.

MCC in a statement today explained that the directive covers areas under the jurisdiction of Miri City Council.

“Miri City Council (MCC) would like to inform the general public that directive has been received from the authority and that MCC’s authorised enforcement personnel will issue Compound Notice of RM1,500.00 with immediate effect upon any person who is found to commit offence against Standard Operation Procedure and instructions imposed under the current Movement Control Order due to Covid-19 Pandemic,” the statement said.

The Directive came into effect in accordance with the latest issuance of State Government’s Order on Protection of Public Health (Measure On The Carrying Out Of Activities And Movement Of Persons Within Infected Local Areas) and (Recovery Movement Control) Order 2021 which were implemented from Jan 13 until March 21.

Thus, Miri City Council reminded the general public to seriously adhere to the SOP of practising safe hygiene including regular washing of hands, maintaining social distancing and wearing face mask.

Likewise, the traders should also maintain body-temperature screening and “check-in” using MySejahtera or maintaining a proper record of customers’ particulars before allowing them to enter their business premises.
